JBlend™ Deployed in BenQ S700 and O2 X3 Mobile Phone from BenQ

TOKYO, JAPAN - Nov 11, 2004 -

Aplix Corporation (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Ryu Koriyama) announced today that its JBlend™ Java platform is included on BenQ S700 and O2 X3 mobile phone from BenQ Corporation, a global handset manufacturer based in Taiwan. BenQ S700 is put on the market in global by BenQ, and the O2 X3 is available in Europe from the U.K. based operator, mmO2 plc. JBlend™ is also planned to be utilized in future BenQ Java handsets.

BenQ S700 and O2 X3 is the first mobile phone by a Taiwanese handset manufacturer to incorporate JBlend™ technology. All of the previous Java mobile phones from BenQ utilize iaJET™ technology provided by iaSolution. Aplix and iaSolution recently announced the corporate integration between the companies on August 24th, 2004. Following the success of these two previous models, this JBlend™ powered mobile phone is the first achievement of the corporate integration between iaSolution and Aplix. From now on, both iaSolution and Aplix will fully support BenQ and will also further expand their combined capabilities to various manufacturers in the Asian market, such as China and Korea.

JBlend™ technology deployed in BenQ S700 as well as O2 X3 includes Java Technology for the Wireless Industry (JTWI™) 1.0 [JSR 185], including the Connected Limited Device Configuration (CLDC) 1.0 [JSR-30]. Both of these standards are part of the Java 2 Platform Micro Edition (J2ME™). In addition, Aplix’s unique technology such as the patented software acceleration known as KFTT™, aids to the overall user experience of BenQ S700 and O2 X3.
