Aplix's JBlend™ Technology
Exceeds 92 Million Shipments in Mobile Phones and Consumer Electronics Devices

Tokyo, JAPAN, - February 14, 2005 -

Aplix Corporation (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Ryu Koriyama), the global leader in deploying Java™ technology in mobile phones, today announced that its JBlend™ platform has shipped in more than 92 million mobile phones and consumer electronics devices.

In November of 1999, the first JBlend™ -enabled consumer electronics device was shipped to the market, followed by the first JBlend™ -enabled mobile phone in March of 2001. Deployment of JBlend™ technology has since increased at a market leading rate, reaching over 92 million shipments as of December 2004.

At the center of JBlend™ 's recent success has been the adoption of JBlend™ outside Japan. Of the more than 175 phone models including the JBlend™ platform as of December 2004, more than half of these models are shipped outside Japan. In addition, over half of the 92 million unit shipments have occurred outside Japan. Motorola has been one of the leading adopters of the JBlend™ platform outside Japan utilizing it on over 32 phone models as of December 2004, including the very popular Motorola RAZR V3.

In addition to mobile phones, the JBlend™ platform has also been widely successful in consumer electronics devices. Since powering the first Java-enabled consumer electronics device in 1999, the JBlend™ platform has powered over 30 more devices including Camcorders, Printers, and High Definition Digital Televisions. Over 200 products now include the JBlend™ platform from leading manufacturers around the world.
